Happy New Year

Happy New Year

A new year and a new start.  And what better way to start the new year than to kit yourself out with the tools to help keep your animals happy, healthy and vibrant?

The essence of the Holistic Lifepath approach is to to understand your animal’s life as part of an ongoing journey from birth to death - their Lifepath. Then you are in a much better position to:

  • Keep them healthy and vibrant for the majority of the time.

  • Respond promptly and appropriately if they goes off the path.

Traffic Lights

The simple traffic light model will help you make good choices at any given moment.

  • Red Level - Always consider if there is some conventional veterinary attention needed first.

  • Red Flags - If not currently needed, then leave some Red Flags in place so you are ready to deal with the “what if …” scenarios, should problems escalate.

  • Green Level - Now review all your basic husbandry to see if anything needs tweaking.

  • Amber Level - Having addressed the Red and the Green, you can now explore all the natural medicine approaches that may be indicated.

Equipping yourself with a simple Journal is an essential part of being a great holistic owner.  You don’t need to write in it every day (unless you are really keen).  Rather, just have it to hand and any time your animals are doing something interesting then make a note. Similarly any clues of problems or any treatments given can be recorded. Over a period of time you will build up a wealth of information.

Time Line

Create yourself a time line. This becomes the map of the territory of you animal’s Lifepath. You can get as creative as you like. You may have one overall timeline, then perhaps individual segments for each year.

First Aid Kit

The First Aid Kit is always a useful thing to have in your tool box.  There are regular thing the you can put in this. Then, because this is about holistic management, include a homeopathic first aid kit. The homeopathic pharmacies put together some very useful ones, so check out their websites for details. I have put links to a couple below for you.

Helios Homeopathic FirstAid Kit

Ainsworths Homeopathic Cat FirstAid Kit

Ainsworths Homeopathic Dog FirstAid Kit

Throughout this year, in no particular order, I will create blogs giving you examples of a given remedy out of a kit has been useful.

For holistic owners close to Forest Row, I will be running a variety of First Aid courses as the year goes on. Keep a watch on the events page for details.
