We are what we eat

We are what we eat

A friend of mine had a good theory for how he approached his nutrition.  It was a three step approach. The first step was easy:

  • Eat anything you want

It was the second two steps that would take a bit of work:

  • Then tune in to how you feel afterwards.

  • And ask yourself why you chose to eat it.

The premise of the whole approach was very straight...

Decorating your tree

As you start to decorate your tree, think about the way that the individual decorations fit upon the structure of the tree. This is a bit like the way we choose specific things to do for our animals (the decorations) and the way that they make so much more sense when we have an underlying framework (the tree).

As you move toward 2019 and...

HAWL in Ireland

Finally the day had arrived of our first HAWL course outside the UK. It was time to head to Cork for the first Irish HAWL course. As it happened it was also our fiftieth HAWL course. What a way to celebrate.

We have been running courses since 2001 and the word had been getting round. I guess it was only a matter of time before we went abroad. We had run one...

4th October: HAWL Tetbury

4th October: HAWL Tetbury

By the time I get to Tetbury and arrive at the farm, all the tension of the M25 rush hour starts to fade away.  Not only is it a lovely farm with gorgeous Cotswold stone buildings, it is the now very familiar venue for the HAWL course for farmers.

While the course structure stays the same, the different farmers attending each course bring a subtle...

The Emerald Isle

We had talked about the possibility of going to Ireland for quite some time. I had had several chats with Homeopathic Vet, Tom Farrington, over the years. Everyone thought it would be a great idea, but somehow it never quite happened. Until now.

After a lot of hard work from the Irish organisers, a date had finally been set and I found myself on a plane over the...

Fleas be gone

Fleas be gone

It is the heat of the summer and as all vets know, this is peak time for fleas. On one level I have a whole lot of admiration for fleas. They are born survivors and have developed some great tactics to be able to thrive. Nonetheless, fleas can be a real nuisance.

Probably the most frequent question I get from pet owners in the average year, is how they can treat ...

Veterinary Student: Supporting the next generation

Veterinary Student: Supporting the next generation

This month I was delighted to be shadowed by a fourth year veterinary student who was keen to know more about organic farming. It is exciting to know that there is interest among many students to know about how to do things in a more subtle way.

For those of you not familiar with how vets are trained, a brief bit of background...

May 23rd: HAWL Shropshire

It is great to see that farmers from all around the country find their way to doing a HAWL course. There is now a growing network of farmers who have been trained in the core essentials of the responsible & effective use of homeopathy on their farm.

This month the HAWL course went to Shropshire and was kindly hosted by holistic vet Barbara Jones at her ...

April Fools'

It is April Fools' Day, where, as tradition has it, people are sucked into some mischievous prank or another. The poor victim then becomes the laughing stock for their foolishness by having been tricked into the deceit.
